The Role

Zafra Legal is a commercial law firm located in Perth, Western Australia. Founded in 2016 with an established client base, Zafra Legal has pursued a strong growth path for over 8 years.

We have an exciting opportunity for a 6+ year post admission experience commercial lawyer to join us as a senior practitioner in our corporate and commercial team. The role offers the opportunity to work with a top-tier client base, active in industries ranging from property, natural resources, professional services and construction. 

Operating in a team environment, alongside our talented group of legal professionals, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage the delivery of our legal services and products. The role will also involve working closely with our commercial practice area principals, whilst taking a leading role to engage with our clients.

As a relationship driven firm, Zafra Legal’s key clients trust that our team will provide solutions in a practical manner, often by contributing directly within clients’ operating environments. This Senior Role will suit an outcomes focused practitioner that complements our objective of delivering effective solutions that address the needs of our clients as their legal advisor. 

In additional managing the delivery of our legal products, the role will require you to participate in negotiation, provide practical guidance on contractual matters and give advice on structuring transactions and project execution often based on dynamic, scenario based legal matters.

The role will provide exposure to both transactional work and ongoing advisory matters.

Who we are seeking to join our team

We are seeking an experienced and motivated legal professional with demonstrated capability as a Commercial and Corporate lawyer in private practice. 

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

• Depth of experience in advising clients on their corporate and commercial legal requirements, including in most of the following areas:
  • contract drafting and negotiation
  • private mergers and acquisitions advisory and execution
  • project development (mainly for industrial and commercial development in infrastructure and property)
  • corporate advisory and preparation of associated deliverables;
  • governance and risk management
  • legal compliance and company secretarial matters.
• Strong project management skills and a focus on client service.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to mentor and help support the continued development of our talented team.
• Strong legal drafting skills and attention to detail.
• Motivated professional with defined career progression objectives.
• Ability to work both independently and in teams.
• Broad commercial focus, with the ability to demonstrate an understanding of business drivers.

Demonstrated experience and knowledge advising clients in any of the following industries will be considered favourably:

• Industrial property.
• Natural resources (mining, oil and gas, renewable energy).
• Professional services.
