Why Your Role Matters:
As the Lead Business Analyst, you will hold accountability of the Business Analyst function in the Student Lifecycle Processes stream of the Student Experience Program. The position is responsible for leading the team to define business requirements in order to develop effective solutions, in alignment with the objectives and scope of the project. This includes, but is not limited to, requirements analysis, data collection, data mapping, preparing solution design, the identification and mapping of ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ business processes, and facilitating workshops to identify areas for improvement and project benefits. This position will also be responsible for managing the deliverables of technical resources to ensure they meet the agreed requirements.

The Lead Business Analyst will collaborate with the change team and other project teams to identify change impacts and ensure they are documented and managed. The remit will involve identifying stakeholders across the organisation and building key relationships to support the design and implementation phases.

The Lead Business Analyst reports to the Program Manager and has a number of direct and indirect reports. It will be situated in the EPMO team and will collaborate with other Business Analysts in order to help support the Centre of Excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the requirements gathering and business analysis for the Student Lifecycle Processes stream.
  • Create a Business Analyst Resource Plan and make recommendations for project resources required to deliver the scope in accordance with the requirements.
  • Lead and coach the Business Analysts to gather, evaluate and document functional and non-functional business requirements and confirm that these will fulfil business requirements and that the requirements documentation is of sufficient quality to begin solution development.
  • Manage and drive data and process mapping and analysis initiatives, and provide recommendations for maintaining and/or improving data quality.
  • Initiate and lead Reference Groups and Working Groups, to ensure the voice of the customer is heard and implemented into the design.
  • Conduct financial and operational modelling to provide financial insights and metrics that help decision making.
  • Identify issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outlining business impacts and estimate cost and business savings, offer risk mitigation strategies where possible.
  • Proactively identify and assess alternatives and feasibility. Review risk analysis (where necessary), and advise the client/owner of the outcome of the analysis.
  • Manage development of ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ process maps using Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) and existing templates within the University’s framework, and ensure that “to be” process design adheres to required design principles.
  • Support procurement processes by conducting analysis of products and services and making recommendations. Onboard and manage resources provided by vendor partners.

Skills and Experience Summary:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field, and has or is pursuing Certified Practitioner in Business Analysis (IIBA or PMP), or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through education/training/experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with business requirements analysis and business process analysis using the appropriate frameworks.
  • Experience identifying and mapping ‘As Is’ and creating ‘To Be’ business processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in building lean processes that promote standardisation.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to critically evaluate information and data gathered from multiple sources.
  • Previous experience within tertiary education is essential.
  • Proven ability to reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into more detail and the ability to abstract from low level information to general understanding.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to create accurate reports and deliver on objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining excellent professional working relationships with stakeholders to develop trust and confidence in business process improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced skills in the use of standard office toolsets including word processors, spreadsheets, drawing/diagramming tools (such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Viso).
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of business processes within a tertiary education environment, and change management principles
