About the Role:
In support of Fortescue's strong focus on green energy and carbon neutrality targets, Fortescue WAE Heavy Industry is the incubator for the development of green technologies and pioneering solutions which are integral to realising Fortescue's decarbonisation targets, whilst being equally relevant in the broader global market.
Based at our Hazelmere and Redcliffe R&D facilities, reporting to the Principal Engineer Industrial Automation - Heavy Industry, we are searching for an experienced Lead Control Systems Engineer to deliver a suite of battery electric power system and charging products.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Lead the Control Systems team on the charger program to achieve stretch targets and ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
- Thorough understanding of EV charging standards and experience with CCS2 charging ports.
- Responsible for the design, development, and delivery of Control Systems including PLC, robotics, machine vision systems, functional safety, and SCADA/HMI components for the project.
- Provide regular progress updates to chief engineer, principal engineer and escalate technical issues as necessary.
- Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines, project management team in a V Model product development framework.
- Develop and implement software development lifecycle workflow and establish processes and frameworks.
- Ensure the Control Systems design, implementation and testing comply to relevant standards and safety requirements.
- Ensure Control Systems and software undergo comprehensive verification and validation process, resulting in quality, reliability, and consistent products.
- Maintain a strong focus on product development, delivering a system that is ready for manufacturing and sale to customers.
- Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the Control Systems team working on the charger program.
- Bachelor of Electrical, Control Systems or Mechatronics Engineering.
- 10+ years' experience in robotics, 3D machine vision systems, networking, PLC development,
- SCADA/HMI programming, testing, and commissioning.
- 5+ years' experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience in Systems Engineering in a product development environment is essential.
- Experience with CCS charging standards is essential.
- Experience with Machine Safety standards is highly advantageous.
- Machine Safety qualification from TÜV or similar preferred.
- Significant experience with Siemens PLC platform is highly advantageous.
- Significant experience with Ignition SCADA platform is highly advantageous.
- Significant experience with Robotics and 3D machine vision systems is highly advantageous.
- Solid foundation in industrial communications protocols; OPC UA, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, CAN, etc.
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams.
- Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn fast and adapt to an environment with dynamic process and program requirements.
