FULL-TIME

SALARY: $140,000 P/A

POSITION SUMMARY
As the Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer, the primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the entire electrical and instrumentation aspect of the project. This role entails leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring they meet project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Design:
Lead the development of comprehensive electrical and instrumentation system designs in coordination with the project team.
Ensure designs adhere to industry standards, local codes, and project requirements.
Engineering Documentation:
Oversee the creation of detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications for electrical and instrumentation systems.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Team Coordination:
Provide technical leadership to the electrical and Instrumentation Engineering team.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate electrical and instrumentation systems seamlessly into the overall project.
Procurement and Material Management:
Work closely with procurement teams to identify and source required electrical and instrumentation components and materials.
Ensure timely delivery of materials to support project timelines.
Installation and Commissioning:
Oversee the on-site installation and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems.
Conduct system tests and inspections to verify compliance with design specifications.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Implement and enforce quality control measures for electrical and instrumentation systems.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, codes, and safety standards.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
Lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical and instrumentation systems, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure ongoing system reliability.
Budget Management:
Collaborate with project management to develop and manage budgets for electrical and instrumentation work.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and safety.
Communication and Reporting:
Provide regular updates to project stakeholders on the progress of electrical and instrumentation tasks.
REQUIREMENTS:
Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents encouraged to apply.
The Project Engineer should hold a Bachelor of Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering and/or Master of E/I Engineering (Master’s degree in E & I preferred).
Relevant qualifications and skills acquired through 5-10 years of experience working in an engineering organization.
Conveyor Expertise: Extensive experience in electrical, control, and instrumentation design specifically related to conveyors is crucial for this role. This includes a deep understanding of conveyor systems and associated electrical components.
MCC and Substation Knowledge: Proficiency in working with Motor Control Centers (MCCs) and substations, including their design, operation, and integration into larger projects.
Component Specification: Ability to develop project-specific component specifications and datasheets, ensuring that selected components meet project requirements.
Technical Evaluation: Experience in conducting technical evaluations of MCCs supplied by subcontractors and contractors, including assessing compliance with project standards and specifications.
Documentation Management: Strong organizational skills for managing cable schedules, equipment lists, instrument lists, and I/O schedules, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Project Control Philosophy: Familiarity with the development of Project Control Philosophy, which outlines the control and instrumentation strategies for the project.
Control Panel Design: Proficiency in Control panel Electrical Circuit Design, including Safety Interlocks and IO Controllers Design, with a focus on adhering to relevant standards and compliance requirements.
Switchgear Commissioning: Experience in switchgear commissioning, ensuring that electrical systems are installed, tested, and operated correctly.
Electronics Expertise: Demonstrated working experience and accomplishments with electronics hardware and software, encompassing both analog and digital systems, sensors/actuators, power management, and wireless communications.
Safety Compliance: In-depth knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to electrical and instrumentation systems, with a commitment to ensuring compliance throughout the project.
Project Management: Strong project management skills, including the ability to collaborate with project management teams to develop and manage budgets for electrical and instrumentation work while ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Continuous Learning: A commitment to staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical and Instrumentation Engineering.
Team Collaboration: Effective teamwork and collaboration skills to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving abilities to identify and address complex technical challenges promptly and efficiently.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and reporting skills to provide regular updates to project stakeholders on the progress of electrical and instrumentation tasks.
