This role sits within Core Systems Tech Area under Australia Retail & Commercial Division. Core Systems is a conglomerate of mainframe applications that run ANZ's Customer, Deposits, Lending, Transaction and Credit Card Systems for Retail and Commercial Businesses. Servicing multiple business units and tribes across ANZ, we run mission critical applications for the bank that process thousands of transactions per second in real time and this brings serious challenges to solve and engineer.
Title : Engineer Chapter Lead

We are in the process of modernizing our legacy systems and embarking on a massive journey to modernize our core applications and support future Banking requirements (ANZx, SunCorp Integration, Risk etc). We are looking for a Lead Engineer to help us build, evolve, and support a modern integration capability for Core Banking systems on Mainframe.
About You
As a Lead, you will be responsible for building and evolving a modern integration capability for Core Banking systems on Mainframe. You will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of technologies including infrastructure and configuration as code tools, service mesh, CI/CD and observability tools.
You’ll create a lasting impact by:
- Must have 12years relevant experience.
- Leading and mentoring Engineering squad for Integration Modernisation, to pursue its mission to design, develop and enhance API (REST, MQ etc) integration and event driven architecture (CDC, Kafka etc.)
- Designing and implementing secure, simple and impactful solutions with a laser focus on automation and DevOps engineering techniques
- Working at a senior level across various domains, collaborating with architects, engineers and operations experts
- Facilitating rapid decision making for the team
- Shaping how ANZ delivers on its commitment to provide great customer service through technology
- Constantly prioritising tasks and the backlog with the customer at the heart of their decision making.
What will you bring?

- Deep expertise in Banking Domain
- Experience developing and operating API services (preferably via z/OS Connect)
- Experience developing and operating stream processing apps using KSQL and Kafka Streams
- Hands-on experience in CDC (Change Data Capture) technologies
- Experience in deploying and running apps on RHEL/Openshift
- Strong knowledge on Scalability, Security, Logging, Auditing, Policy Management and Performance Monitoring for end-to-end process execution
- Passionate and have an obsession to solve business problems through innovation and engineering practices
- Ability to galvanise a diverse group of people around a common mission
- Proven analytical skills and evidence-based decision making
- Proven ability to innovate and adapt to latest development in area of expertise
- Successfully led projects or a large BAU change agenda
- Developed and executed breakthrough domain strategies that deliver the business strategy
- Continuous improvement junkie – ability to constructively challenge the status quo, look for better ways to do things and passionately advocate continuous improvement. Automate everything
- Ability to make right trade-off choices when dealing with functional complexity a, conflicting priorities and aggressive schedules
- Experience leading, developing and retaining high performing engineering talent
Skills
- Integration Technologies: RESTful APIs, z/OS Connect, IBM MQ, IBM CDC, Confluent Kafka, KSQL and Kafka Streams
- Languages – Python, Groovy, Shell Scripting, JavaScript, COBOL etc.
- Devops & Observability: GitHub, Codefresh, JFrog Artifactory, Postman, K6, Splunk etc
- Security: IBM RACF, Active Directory, Role Based Access Control (RBAC), TLS Certificate management, Secrets management using Hashicorp Vault etc
- Docker & Container Orchestration Technologies & Mainframe experience will be a bonus
