About the Role

The Operational Decarbonisation team has been established to support the delivery of BHP's decarbonisation programs in Minerals Australia. Our team is based all over Australia and made up of professionals in workstreams covering Mining, Rail, Power, and Integration. Our purpose is to maintain the regional decarbonisation roadmap and solving complex decarbonisation problems to help BHP achieve its medium-term Operational Decarbonisation target of 30% emissions reduction by FY2030 based on FY2020 baseline and long-term goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. 


 

Reporting to the Manager Mine Decarbonisation, the Lead Mine Planning (Operational Decarbonisation) role will deliver expert Mine Planning leadership and advice, with the ability to understand the influences and challenges that net zero greenhouse gas mine plans will have on BHP Assets. In this role you will: 

  • Provide expert Mine Planning leadership and advice to project and asset teams, as we work together to accelerate Operational Decarbonisation solutions for a net zero future.

  

  • Establish and communicate new concepts of operations for a zero emissions operating future.
  • Build wide networks across the business & with external experts to influence transformational change and the strategic thinking required to deliver simple solutions to complex problems.
  • Support the establishment of the internal capability required as we electrify our operations.
  • Coach and upskill operational leaders & technical experts to understand changes to the way we work as we move into a zero emissions future.
  • Act as a key conduit between the Operational Decarbonisation studies teams and the assets, for the development of Life of Asset Plans and to advance operational integration.

 

The role is offered on a permanent basis, with a variety of flexible working arrangements available. This position is based in Perth or Brisbane.

About You

  • Prioritise team health and safety.
  • Mining Engineering degree, or similar technical degree with extensive Mine Planning experience.
  • MBA or master’s degree in business, finance, engineering or project management desirable. 
  • Broad Mine Planning experience, preferably across multiple commodities and time horizons.
  • Exposure to highly complex studies and projects.
  • Strong influencing and problem-solving ability, with a key willingness to develop new skills.
