Join a well-established, proudly family owned business in Perth’s eastern suburbs who provide fabrication services for the mining, industrial and commercial sectors in WA. They have a focus on quality and customer satisfaction along the entire fabrication process, from project scoping through to delivery. Their quality products, reliability and commitment to customer service are what set them apart from the rest.
Work in a modern, clean workshop, which has been purpose-built for industrial steel fabrication, and has great spaces which encourage socialising and team building. The team genuinely enjoy each other’s company; they down-tools every Friday to celebrate their hard work, plus regular BBQs and other events which help solidify camaraderie and team cohesiveness. We are looking for someone who wants to join in and get to know employees as more than just ‘resources’.
Reporting to the Director, your role is to ensure the workshop runs like a well-oiled machine – that you have the resources available to meet project demands, and schedule work to eliminate downtime.
You will also:
- Coordinate, plan and execute workflow activities to make the best use of staff, equipment and other resources.
- Ensure the workshop housekeeping and operating practices are of a high standard and tools and equipment are well-maintained.
- Supervise fabrication trades, employees, contractors and suppliers to ensure assigned work confirms to quality, time and productivity.
- Maintain a high performing team and take responsibility for supporting, advising and mentoring the team.
- Drive a positive safety culture.
- Work supported by modern systems including quality project management software and electronic timekeeping.
- A competitive salary.
- Clear expectations and transparency from Management.
- Work within a positive and supportive culture.
- You have 5+ years’ experience in a Leading Hand or Workshop Supervisor position.
- You are tech-savvy – you have worked on the workshop floor yourself and know how everything works.
- You have trade skills as a boilermaker or fabricator.
- You can solve problems yourself – you just get on with things and get it done and don’t put things in the ‘too hard’ basket – you also know when you need to escalate issues.
- You are results-oriented and know how to utilise a team to overcome any challenges and achieve those results.
- You know how to budget time and material costs, and how to assess project needs against the resources you have available and make everything fit into place.
- You are a true leader. You encourage team spirit and drive motivation.
- You have excellent communication skills and can work as a conduit between the needs of project managers and the capacity of workshop staff.
- You know how to manage teams from diverse backgrounds.
- You make safety a priority and never cut corners for the sake of profit.
