  • Lead a randomised controlled trial for psychological intervention for adult survivors of child sexual abuse, collaborating with a survivor-led charitable partner.

About the Role 

The Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences seeks a post-doctoral research fellow to lead a randomised controlled trial on a novel psychological intervention for adult survivors of child sexual abuse. The role involves collaboration with a survivor-led charitable partner, direct work with survivors, managing recruitment, conducting assessments, interviews, data collection, and manuscript writing, while adhering to trauma-informed practices and supporting the school's ethos and University policies. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Assisting and coordinating data collection activities. 
  • Identifying risk scenarios and triaging appropriately, with supervision from a clinical psychologist. 
  • Participating in research independently and as a member of a research team. 
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the charitable partner. 

Who We Are Looking For 

The successful candidate will possess a background in trauma-related mental health, demonstrating flexibility, independence, and effective collaboration skills. Strong communication and engagement abilities, genuine commitment to co-producing research with those with lived experience, experience in standardised assessments, as well as a desire for a psychology career trajectory, are essential. 

You will also have: 

  • A postgraduate degree in psychology or a related discipline. 
  • Background and experience in trauma-related mental health, and ability to work in a trauma-informed manner. 
  • High degree of independence, flexibility, and responsiveness to changing priorities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to independent and team-based research.
