We are seeking a highly motivated and customer orientated individual to join our Human Resources team in the role of Organisational Development Lead. In this key role, you will be driving initiatives that enhance organisational effectiveness and employee engagement.
CERA conducts research to discover the causes of eye disease, find new ways to detect and prevent vision loss and develop new treatments to save and restore sight.
About The Role
CERA is in the process of reviewing and renewing its Human Resources function. Working with the recently appointed Head of Human Resources, this is a newly created position supporting the design and development of a suite of initiatives to build out our people offering to staff and students.The role will include:
- The develop and implement employee engagement and development strategies based on staff feedback and industry best practices, including the supported development and implementation of programs, training, and people policy reviews to support CERA’s growth and maturation.
- Ensuring managers and staff understand and adhere to HR-related changes during people related system and process rollouts.
- Managing internal HR communications channels, including HR's intranet pages and social collaboration tools, to optimising communication and engagement across our teams.
- Collaborating to create internal content, such as articles, videos, and infographics, reinforcing organisational messaging and providing technical information to stakeholders.
- Coordination and implementation of DE&I initiatives, including our Gender Equity and Reconciliation Action plans, accessibility initiatives and other GEDI programs.
The HR team is also supported by a fantastic communications team; there is a clear distinction between the work in this role and theirs, but there will be intersection with each others' functions from time to time.
About You
It's really important that you see your role as a facilitator rather than a gate keeper. In addition to experienced OD practitioners, we are very open to applicants who are ready to move up from a coordinator level or are looking to shift to OD from a generalist HR role. We are looking for someone who has:
- An understanding of Organisational Development and employee experience concepts, and is able to translate this knowledge into strategies that enhance workplace culture and boost employee satisfaction.
- Excellent communication skills; someone who is adept at crafting internal content and engaging with employees across all levels. It's important you're confident and empathetic enough to be able to communicate with and support everyone from very highly qualified academics doing high pressure work to students joining us for their first research programs.
- A proven ability to think strategically, aligning engagement initiatives with organisational goals and driving improvement through data-driven insights.
- A collaborative approach, skilled at working with diverse teams to achieve common objectives.
- Strong project management abilities, capable of leading projects (with support where needed) and ensuring successful execution of engagement initiatives and events.
- Creative problem-solving skills, able to innovate solutions to engage employees and students effectively and enhance their overall experience.
- Adaptability and resilience in dynamic environments, remaining flexible and focused despite challenges and change. Note, the workplace is a very positive one - this isn't listed because you'll be working with unpleasant people with unreasonable expectations. But we are in the process of building the systems to support CERA so sometimes you'll have to be creative in your problem solving while that unfolds.

The salary range for this role is $100K-$120K pa depending on experience plus super, plus salary packaging.
