Torrens University Language Centre (TULC) provides a range of courses to maximise student chances of success. TULC is accredited in Australia by Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) and assessed for quality. Torrens University Language Centre is also a member of English Australia and UECA.

With classes of up to 18 students, this role is a terrific opportunity to combine your motivation and energy and join our collaborative team-based across our campuses located in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

What's the job?
The Learning Facilitator/Lecturer is responsible for preparing, delivering and assessing subjects as allocated. Lecturers must work to ensure students are provided with the best opportunity to attain learning outcomes/competencies and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks. Lecturers must participate in course review initiatives, including validation and moderation activities and are required to be available to provide student support outside of timetabled class hours.

Day-to-day accountabilities:

  • Design, prepare and develop teaching materials , supplementing where needed

  • Produce assessment tools, set and grade assessments

  • Deliver ELICOS and review at regular intervals

  • Identify students "at risk" and refer for counselling

  • Refer students to pastoral support mechanisms for assistance where appropriate

  • Mark student attendance at each session

Who you are
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor degree and Post Graduate TESOL qualification (or equivalent as deemed by DoS) meeting NEAS minimum requirements
  • Up to date knowledge of significant developments in ELICOS theory and practice
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Prezi)
