Learning Facilitators work up to 5 days per week with occasional weekend or afterhours delivery required which will be addressed by TOIL or overtime in consultation with the relevant line manager. Learning Facilitators report to the Manager of Learning Programs.
The key duties of the position include
Under broad direction, design and deliver programs and interpretation to a wide range of audiences across the formal and informal sectors including school groups. Programs may include, but are not limited to, educational resources and programs; art workshops for all age groups; family activities; design and delivery of tours both on site and online; creation and delivery of programs for audiences of diverse abilities. Programs may be both on site and online;
- Work as part of a small team to design, develop and deliver education programs showcasing the National Portrait Gallery collection as it relates to key curriculum areas across all school year levels;
- Work as part of a small team to design, develop and deliver holiday activities for family audiences;
- Prepare a range of learning materials including short gallery guides or specific exhibition guides and online educational materials, designed to elicit close looking and conversation for a range of audiences, families, adults, and educational groups;
- Perform administrative functions related to research, planning, evaluation and reporting of section programming including interpretation of statistical data to inform future planning for designated projects.
- Provide high levels of customer service to Gallery visitors and support Gallery functions including openings and other events, as required, and:
- Assistance with movement of a wide range of objects, as required, including but not limited to art materials, bollards, easels, chairs, stools, portable tables, and modules of display furniture when necessary
