We now have two opportunities available for passionate and experienced Academics to join our team within the College of Science and Engineering as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Statistical Data Science.
• Full-time; continuing
• Academic Level B $103,238 - $121,815 or Academic Level C $125,527, - $144,104 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
• Based at either the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas, or the Cairns Nguma-bada campus, Smithfield.
• Level of appointment and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
What you can accomplish in the Role
We are seeking dynamic and engaging academics with specific expertise in fields that include statistics and Data Science with capacity to teach and contribute to curriculum and coordinate Data Science programs within the College of Science and Engineering. As a highly motivated and inspiring academic, you will have the opportunity to strengthen the discipline through pursing excellence in teaching and research. Working with senior leaders within the College, you will help grow the research profile of the College and play an active role in shaping the future of our teaching and research programs.
What you can bring to the Role
• Possession of a PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of theories underpinning Data Science and demonstrated application of statistical learning and/or deep learning methods.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching into undergraduate programs; development, and delivery of innovative curriculum in a combination of face-to-face, online, and blended and flexible modes.
• A proven track record of research and impact of research in the field of Data Science and Statistics, including ERA-recognised publications and successful grant activity; and supervision of Higher Degree Research candidates.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work in a collegial and ethical manner and demonstrated organisational and administrative skills.
• Commitment to principles of equity and diversity; knowledge of occupational health and safety responsibilities; commitment to continuous improvement in teaching, research, and professional life.
