The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Assistant to work in our Melbourne Building and Construction Law practice. Supporting a busy team you will display a willingness to learn and have experience in either litigation or Building and Construction from within a fast-paced Law practice group. You will be regarded as an integral member who will provide superior administrative support and a variety of ad-hoc duties.
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Diary management;
- Scheduling appointments;
- Preparation and reconciliation of expenses;
- Client liaison and management;
- Preparing legal documents including letters and briefs to Counsel;
- Opening and closing of files;
- Organising events & functions;
- Billing;
- Court filing;
- File management (including liaison with clients, barristers, courts etc); and
- PA duties as required.
Who We Are Looking For
Ideally you will have at least 2 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant, and preferably have experience in the litigation space. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and diary management skills, with a client service focus. You will be proficient in Microsoft Suite and formatting, as well as good typing and dictation experience. You will have the ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, display initiative, have good attention to detail and a proven history of meeting deadlines. You will be familiar and competent with general invoicing and accounting processes. The core office hours are 8.30am to 5pm.
