Exciting Opportunity - Join Our Legal Team! 🌟
Are you a skilled legal professional looking for a dynamic role in a fast-paced environment? We're seeking a talented Legal Counsel to join our team and provide expert legal advice and regulatory aspects of Nearmap within the ANZ region and the broader business where required in other regions where the group operates. Reporting to the General Counsel, you'll play a crucial role in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating external-facing contracts, managing IP issues, and advising on compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Drafting and Negotiation:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of external-facing sales contracts, procurement contracts, and government bid documents.
- Provide legal advice on complex partnership arrangements, SaaS licensing terms, and machine learning licensing.
- Manage IP issues and IP portfolio, including patents.
- Advise on cyber and enterprise technology matters, including SOC2 compliance.
- Assist in creating compliance programs, policies, and training on regulatory matters.
- Attend to legal-related customer support requests and enquiries.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve legal issues and minimise legal risks.
- Update standard sales terms for new product releases.
- Provide training to the commercial team on legal positions and risk exposure in commercial contracts.
- Support information handling and global privacy data needs of the company.
- Keep informed of regulatory and legal developments affecting the company and its clients.
- Participate in understanding Nearmap's business strategies to maximise value.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proactive and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum 5-8 years post-admission experience gained in either an IT or a technology, media and telecommuncations team or as an in-house technology lawyer but are open to candidates with a corporate/commercial law background.
- Strong experience in drafting and negotiating a variety of complex commercial contracts, independently managing and navigating complex deals.
- Experience with SaaS related commercial contract (vendor side) and ideally licensing arrangements involving artificial intelligence, machine learning and machine derived attributes.
- Experience in managing IP issues and IP portfolio is ideal.
