What you'll do:
Reporting to the Chief Counsel of Asia Pacific and Managing Director of Eaton Electrical ANZ, we are looking to hire a Legal Counsel and Company Secretary for Australia and New Zealand to provide legal and commercial support for assigned businesses and functions. We are looking for a legal and commercial expert to ensure legal risks are managed and mitigated as appropriate with the best commercial outcome achieved for Eaton and our customer.
This role would suit a legal professional with multinational experience who can manage and drive the development and execution of a legal strategy, including compliance. The ability to effectively work with non-legal businesses, engineering, and technical teams will be crucial.
Key Duties
- Legal compliance and risk management - assessing legal risks relating to operations and strategic decisions.
- Development of effective compliance risk mitigation strategies, such as processes and controls to eliminate or mitigate identified compliance risks.
- Act as the Company Secretary for the Electrical Division but also provide legal support to the Mobility and Industrial businesses and represent in commercial, legal and regulatory matters involving government agencies for all legal entities.
- Provide transactional, operational and contract support for assigned Eaton businesses and functions (HR, Sales, Supply Chain Management, Finance etc).
- Provide advice and counsel regarding good corporate governance and compliance with our Code of Ethics.
- Manage and resolution of litigation, labour, and other disputes.
Qualifications:
- At least 7 years of experience ideally with a multinational company in either Utilities, Industrial, Mining or FMCG within the APAC region.
- Experience in a major law firm is also highly regarded.
- Knowledge of, or an ability quickly to learn, legal issues associated with anti-corruption/FCPA and government relations.
- Familiarity with and experience in analysing and responding to ANZ laws and regulations, practice, and government bureaus. Familiarity and experience in these matters in other APAC countries would be ideal.
