The Contracts Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting our continued growth and success by applying your exceptional understanding of contracting in the mining, resources or construction industry. You will be responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of mining services contracts, from drafting and negotiation to administration and risk management. You will be a key member of our team, working closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure Redpath Australia’s commercial interests are protected throughout the contracting process.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the tendering process through review of tender documents, providing key input into tender contract departures
- Negotiate terms and conditions with internal stakeholders to determine Redpath’s desired position and then negotiate with the other party to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. This might involve clauses on payment schedules, performance guarantees, termination conditions, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Draft various contracts in support of our operations including; service agreements, subcontractor agreements for specialized services, procurement contracts for equipment and materials, and joint venture agreements for larger projects.
- Monitor and support contract performance to ensure both parties are fulfilling their obligations as outlined in the agreement. This may involve drafting or reviewing contract correspondence and supporting project managers with resolution of claims.
- Evaluate and review claims including change in scope, assess the validity of the claim and negotiate settlements.
- Providing expert advice to project teams on all commercial and contractual matters. This might involve providing guidance on contract interpretation, risk mitigation strategies, and legal compliance.
- Develop contract risk mitigation strategies through collaboration with site teams and early identification of contract risk. Work with the project team to develop strategies to mitigate these risks and minimize their impact on the project. This might involve implementing contractual safeguards, obtaining insurance, or developing contingency plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a legal or contractual role either directly or in support of the mining, resources or construction industry.
- Strong understanding of contract law, risk management principles, and commercial negotiation techniques.
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience in using relevant contract management software desirable
