The role
The role involves offering legal advice on diverse Business Unit matters, covering manufacturing, sales, and distribution of explosive and fertiliser products. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing contracts and providing legal guidance on dealing with customers, procurement activities, IP, property, health, safety, environment, privacy, and other matters. The position also involves ensuring legal compliance, reviewing policies, and advising on Corporate/Head Office issues, including listing rules and Corporations Act matters, as well as support on major projects and corporate M&A transactions from time to time.
Core Accountabilities Include:
- Assisting the Legal Team in providing legal advice to the Group.
- Supporting the Group General Counsel and other lawyers in various legal matters.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating customer and procurement contracts, including construction and IT contracts, with a focus on risk-related aspects like force majeure, termination rights, indemnities and warranties.
- Managing Business Unit IP portfolio.
- Advising on compliance with competition laws, anti-bribery and sanctions laws, and assisting in the delivery of training on these compliance areas.
- Participating in the Human Rights Working Group and advising on compliance with the modern slavery laws.
About you:
You should hold legal qualifications with post-qualification experience, preferably gained in a tier 1 or 2 law firm or within an in-house corporate team. Demonstrate a successful track record in handling legal matters and showcase experience that aligns with the demands of the role. Illustrate a profound understanding of complex areas of law, demonstrating your ability to navigate intricate legal landscapes. Showcase your capacity to provide sound and practical legal advice, emphasising instances where your insights have positively influenced decision-making.
