The role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate lawyer to provide commercially sound, practical legal advice to business units across the GPT Group, on Real Estate, Development and Construction matters.

As a Legal Counsel you will be a key member of our high calibre, in-house legal team working on additional proactive legal projects that drive continuous improvement and business value.

What you will be doing

  • Providing commercially sound, prompt and practical legal advice across the Group on a range of issues including acquisitions, disposals, development, construction, leasing, property management, property operations and general commercial contracting.
  • Negotiating related legal documentation (e.g. agreements for lease, leases, construction contracts, development agreements, sale contracts and consultancy agreements)
  • Undertaking complex legal transactions (e.g. sales, acquisitions, developments, joint ventures/capital partnerships).
  • Identifying and managing legal issues and risks in the provision of legal advice. Also identifying any cross department issues such as tax, compliance and finance and working with those teams.
  • Stakeholder management in projects and transactions, including managing external legal relationships and costs proactively.
  • Working and fostering relationships with external law firms.

We are seeking a passionate and driven Senior Associate with strong Real Estate, development and ideally construction experience; from a leading law firm.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate strong technical and organisational capability, well-developed communication and stakeholder management skills, as well as a willingness to drive outcomes and the ability to oversee multiple workstreams simultaneously with minimal supervision.
