An opportunity exists for a Knowledge Manager in our Practice Services Team in an ongoing capacity.
The Practice Services Team is seeking applications from an experienced Knowledge Manager. This role will be responsible for the generation, capture and maintenance of knowledge assets, including the development and maintenance of consistent and standardised processes to support knowledge management across the organisation.

About the role
The Practice Services team is a small team that works collaboratively with AGS’s 3 legal practice areas and has responsibility for a diverse range of work including managing AGS’s outpost practice, pro bono practice, induction and internal training programs, knowledge management framework (including its Legal Opinions Database and library) and graduate program.
The Knowledge Manager role supports the National Manager Practice Services and works collaboratively with the Australian Government Solicitor, the National Practice Manager, AGS National Leaders and Managers and AGS lawyers.
In this role you will:
- develop and coordinate AGS’s national knowledge management processes
- make recommendations on the technical architecture required to meet AGS’s knowledge management requirements
- lead the utilisation of artificial intelligence systems to support knowledge management
- work closely with AGS’s 3 legal practice areas to ensure consistency in the development of knowledge resources
- under broad direction and with minimal supervision, develop and maintain precedent documents and other knowledge assets as required by the legal practice areas
- monitor new developments relevant to knowledge management and provide advice to senior management
- enhance the knowledge management capability and provide expertise and technical knowledge across a range of knowledge management platforms and activities
- lead innovation solutions and continuous improvement relevant to knowledge management including in relation to systems, change management, communications, training, analytics and strategy.

About you
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- significant experience (generally 7 years or more) as a practising lawyer and/or a Knowledge Manager
- experience in, or ability to quickly learn, current and emerging technology and how it relates to legal practice
- excellent drafting and analytical skills
- strong organisational and communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities; and
- experience working in knowledge management in a legal practice, as well as experience across a range of legal practice areas, particularly in the area of Commonwealth/Government law would be highly beneficial.
