About us
Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, Family Law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.
About the role
This role will provide and coordinate comprehensive staff development and training support to legal staff primarily in the Family Law Division including the continuing legal education program. This role also consults broadly with Legal Officers and managers about the training needs of those doing legal work primarily in the Family Law Division.
About you
You will be a creative and robust thinker who can use your knowledge and experience in Family Law to coordinate the development, implementation, and delivery of Training and Education programs (such as Continuing Professional Development Training sessions, online practice manual, conferences, webinars, podcasts). You will be a capable collaborator who can work autonomously to plan and facilitate meetings to discuss training needs across a large and complex practice area.
You will also have strong communication and negotiation skills (both written and verbal) to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring training sessions/programs are of a high quality and accessible. You are self-motivated to remain up-to-date with the developments in Family Law, care and protection law, and procedure, ensuring those developments are effectively communicated to staff and panel practitioners.

The essential requirements for this role
You must:
- be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and/or Working with Children Check
- hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
- Must hold valid NSW drivers license and some roles may require the ability for remote travel.
The Family Law Division have a number of roles where it is a statutory obligation for staff to hold a valid Working With Children Check. You will be required to provide your Working With Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
