The Role
Leading independent girls school, Camberwell Girls Grammar School, presents an opportunity for a Library Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis (0.6 FTE). Reporting to the Head of Library, you will be joining a team responsible for promoting a strong reading culture in the CGGS community and interacting with students across our Junior and Secondary Schools to actively promote learning, literacy and recreational reading.
The hours of work are Tuesday 7.30am-3.30pm, Wednesday 10.00am-6.00pm and Friday 9.00am-5.00pm.
You will make an impact by:
- Contributing to the daily operations of the CGGS Libraries, including maintaining the Library Management System, managing the circulation duties, assisting with the cataloguing and processing of new resources and supporting the CGGS book clubs
- Supporting teachers and students by investigating relevant reading materials for students and providing photocopying and print support
- Maintaining the Library websites and online resources to courage wide reading and support engagement in literary competitions and programs
- Creating visual displays using artwork and digital technologies to promote various Library collections and online resources
- Encouraging a love of reading through your own reading and knowledge of Young Adult Literature and Classics
To be successful in this role you will have…
- Previous experience in a library or educational environment
- Passion for reading and a commitment to promoting literacy
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer literacy with experience using Microsoft Office
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current Criminal Record Check
