About the role

We are seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic Library Assistant to support the Teacher Librarian and offer a complete library service to the students, teachers and parents in Redlands' Preparatory and Junior Schools. 

This role is a part-time LSL cover position, working during term-time only. The work pattern is Monday to Thursday (0.8 FTE) in Term 2 in the Preparatory School (Lucy Hill) Library and Wednesday to Friday (0.6 FTE) in Term 3 in the Junior School (Arnold) Library.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Shelve books and tidying of shelves
• Cataloguing and processing the new resources with labelling and covering
• Recommending new resources in consultation with the Teacher Librarian to students and teachers
• Return and loan resources and manage overdue system and prepare termly overdue reports
• Maintain student library records and PRC details
• Understanding and using the functionality of the Oliver library software system
• Ability to assist library users with their searches and use of the catalogue

About you

The successful applicant will have strong verbal and written communication skills and an interest in working collaboratively with students in P-6 and the relevant staff, families, and the broader Redlands community. The Library Assistant will promote and support knowledge and learning and support an enriched student experience. Prior experience using the Oliver software and working in a library or the education sector is required. The successful candidate will also have the knowledge and experience to assist library users with their searches.
