AddressQueensland Symphony Orchestra is seeking to appoint a Library Coordinatorto the Performance Services team, responsible for preparation and distribution of music for QSO performances to musicians, artists and choirs. This is an active and hands-on role key to enabling efficient rehearsals and outstanding performances.
The position of Library Coordinatorreports to the Orchestra Librarian and works 4 days per week.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Coordinating and completing music preparation from receipt to distribution of music folders
- Coordinating string bowings and other markings with section principals and conductors
- Unpacking of music from orchestra folders post-performance
- Returning freight and re-shelving of orchestral sets post-performance
- Preparing audition excerpts for casual and permanent orchestral positions
- Coordinating the work of interns and other library workers as directed by Orchestra Librarian
- Answering or appropriately directing library queries and requests from musicians
Selection criteria
- A tertiary qualification in music or a similar relevant degree
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and adapt priorities to meet changing demands
- Understanding of symphonic orchestral instruments and instrumentation
- High level ability to read orchestral music, including an orchestral score, and prepare music for performances and auditions
- Proficiency in Sibelius music notation program or similar
- Ability to contribute ideas for the improvement of work processes and problem-solve
- Well-developed computer literacy skills, including use of Adobe suite
