Employment Status: Fixed term until March 2025
Days & Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, totalling 35 hours per week including rostered evenings and weekends
Competitive Salary: Band 3 $65,402.26 pro-rata + 11% superannuation
Location: Sandringham and Hampton Libraries, may be required to work at other Bayside Libraries

About the Role:
Have you heard about the amazing things that public libraries offer to the community and would like an opportunity to be part of this team?
As a Library Customer Service Officer you will be responsible for ensuring that the library service is the centre of information in Bayside. You will be a member of the Sandringham – Hampton Libraries branch team but may be required to work at any of our 4 libraries.
This role is also part of our Children and Youth Services team providing weekly story time sessions to our youngest library users and their families. You will also provide innovative customer focused services to library users in a self-serve environment within the framework of current council and library policies and procedures.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing welcoming community focused Customer Service.
- Facilitating access to the collection through membership, promotion, circulation and shelving of library resources.
- Providing information to customers about library resources, programs and services.
- Preparing and deliver children’s programs under the guidance of the Children and Youth Services Librarian.
- Supporting customers to navigate digital technologies.
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:
- An experienced Customer Service Officer who is looking to take the next step in their career
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships, across all levels.
- A highly organised individual, to ensure the organisation continues to meet its strategy and plan commitments through project, program, and initiative delivery.
Mandatory pre-employment requirements:
- Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
- Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check .
