About the role:
Are you an experienced Metal Fabricator ready to transition from the workshop to the classroom? We are recruiting passionate individuals with extensive Metal Fabrication experience (both Light and Heavy) to become lecturers for a leading training provider in the northern region.
This role will require you to deliver training and assessment to students in your area of expertise. Your depth of practical knowledge and hands on experience will enable you to teach and mentor students in accordance with a set curriculum.
Note: A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is not required to commence.
Key Responsibilities:
- 37.5 hours per week including 21 hours of teaching. The remaining time will be made up in student support, professional development and administration.
- Deliver engaging lectures on engineering principles and fabrication techniques.
- Assess student performance through practical and theoretical evaluations.
- Provide hands-on training in welding, boilermaking, and sheet metal working.
- Develop and update course materials to reflect industry standards.
- Mentor students on career pathways and professional development.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols during practical sessions.
- Collaborate with industry partners for curriculum enhancements.
- Supervise student projects and provide constructive feedback.
Attributes And Skills Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in Metal Fabrication. Experience can be less than 5 years if it includes fly-in fly-out roles exceeding 37.5 hours per week.
- Trade qualifications in Metal Fabrication.
- Proficiency in welding techniques (MIG, TIG, arc welding) and/or sheet metal work.
- Experience with CNC machines, laser cutting, or other fabrication equipment.
- Strong understanding of metalworking processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for mentoring the next generation of metal fabricators.
