 HW Greenham Meat Processing Facility is a leading provider of quality meat products, dedicated to sustainable and efficient processing practices. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Livestock Leading Hand to join our team. The Livestock Leading Hand will play a pivotal role in the smooth operations of our facility, ensuring the efficient handling and processing of livestock. This position requires a strong leader with excellent organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Team Leadership:

• Lead a team of livestock handlers, providing guidance and direction to ensure efficient and safe handling of livestock.
• Monitor staff performance, providing feedback, and facilitating training where necessary to maintain high standards.
• Schedule and organize tasks to optimize workflow and meet production targets.

Livestock Handling:

• Oversee the unloading of livestock trucks, ensuring proper handling and welfare of animals.
• Implement and enforce proper animal handling techniques to minimize stress and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
• Coordinate with veterinarians and animal welfare officers as needed.

Paperwork and Documentation:

• Ensure all paperwork related to livestock intake, processing, and dispatch is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain detailed records of livestock movements, health, and any incidents for reporting purposes.
• Assist in the development and implementation of procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy of documentation.

Quality Assurance:

• Conduct regular inspections of livestock to assess health and quality.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to maintain high product standards.
• Identify and address any issues related to livestock quality or welfare promptly.

Equipment and Facility Maintenance:

• Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of livestock handling equipment and facilities.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate department for timely resolution.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Extensive experience in livestock handling and management with a sound Knowledge of Animal husbandry and welfare practices.
• Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of effectively leading teams.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork and documentation.
• Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Relevant certifications or training in livestock handling and welfare is a plus.
