Job description

We are currently seeking a professional to join our transport bookings department. Your position within this team will be one of seven integral professionals that are collaborating with our customers regarding their import and export container bookings as well as other internal operational departments (i.e. transport and warehouse).

We are looking for a rising star that has a genuine interest in developing their career as a logistics professional. Due to the size of our company, we have a genuine growth pathway within the organisation and our existing leaders are proof of this strategy.

As a logistics professional inside our container bookings department, you will be responsible (in conjunction with your team members) to collaborate with customers regarding their import/export container shipments and enter/update bookings in our transport management system. As your performance levels rise, your exposure to learning new skills and contributing further will expand into slotting containers at the wharf and scheduling deliveries to customers in advanced. Whilst this may seem straight forward, these activities require:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Wide operational thinking.
  • Strong understanding of the wharf related systems and processes.
  • Strong collaborative, planning and negotiating skills.

Now is a fantastic time to join the organisation as we are launching a new transport management system that is being positively and widely adopted throughout the organisation due to the many enhancing and efficient features compared to the historic system.

To provide further insight/clarity, please see below key accountabilities and job requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Effectively respond to all customer enquiries promptly.
  • Create and update accurate client booking and release details as requested.
  • Ensure all clients requirements are met by the recording of special instructions i.e. reefer temperatures, correct container size, delivery times etc.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service to ensure ongoing business relationships are maintained.
  • Ensure all import/export details are checked when booking wharf slots to ensure penality charges are not incurred.
  • Other duties as and when required.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multi-task (i.e. Emails, TMS system, wharf slotting system).
  • Excellent time management, communication and organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Collaborative team player (this is not a solo position).
  • Eager and open to learn and develop.

Most commonly, this position has suited a younger individual that is new or relatively new to the logistics industry as it provides an excellent foundational pathway forward. With that being said, we have also had a number of mature aged professionals in this department over the past two decades that have equally excelled. We are recruiting based on attitude and performance levels.

The successful candidate will have the training, support and direction of the surrounding team and management in an open office environment. To increase your chances of having your application reviewed, please submit a cover letter along with your CV and within the cover letter, please reference the word [attitude].

We wish you all the best with your employment search and thank you for reading until the end.
