About the team
We know that Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) are a huge deal for businesses, so whether the focus is on growth through acquisitions or increasing shareholder value through strategic divestments, we support clients from start to finish.
Our M&A Consulting Services Team focuses on the deal cycle - including assessment of deal targets with commercial and operational due diligence, pre-deal analysis, deal execution and implementation. We provide support for our clients during sell-side separations and buy-side integrations, with a focus on increasing growth and value, and helping our clients navigate complex deal processes.
What will your typical day look like?
You will drive the thinking of Corporate and Private Equity clients to uncover the true strategic and operational capability of acquisitions or divestments. You will bring a strategic point of view, structured problem solving, great consulting skills and disciplined planning capabilities. Pre-deal, you will lead teams to assess the operational, strategic and synergy value of clients' deals. Post-deal, you drive the integration or separation planning, always striving to put the client in the best possible position to realise the full potential of the deal.
As a senior member of the team, you will also be involved with:
- Financial analysis and due diligence for the proposed transaction
- Development of strategic growth options and acquisition strategies for clients
- Preparation of acquisition / carve out business cases for review by key stakeholders
- Pre-deal advisory work including strategy design and articulation, market and target assessment, structured problem solving and strategic decision making
- Development of integration / separation strategies to extract maximum value from the transaction including operating model design and change management
- Execution of the transaction, including the negotiation of Transitional Service Agreements, blueprinting and Day-1 (Completion) readiness planning
- End-to-end project management of large-scale transactions
- Contribute to practice and business development activities e.g. through the development of thought leadership material and/or sales materials
- Coaching junior staff to operationalise the deal process for clients through knowledge of the M&A lifecycle and excellent project management skills
Enough about us, let's talk about you.
You are someone with:
- Bachelor's degree or post graduate qualification (e.g. CA / CFA / MBA)
- 3+ years advisory/consulting experience, ideally from a Big 4, strategy or boutique consulting firm or the internal strategy function of a large corporate - this is provided as a guidance only, please don't let it limit you, if you feel you have something to add to our team
- Natural aptitude to problem solving and structured thinking
- Strategy toolkit
- Experience with the broader deal-oriented process and environment
- Excellent financial and analytical skills
- Articulate communication and confident presentation skills
- Pragmatic commercial acumen - able to identify risks and develop solutions to manage those risks
- Managing cross-functional teams to deliver engagements across all of phases of the M&A lifecycle including due-diligence, pre-close and post-merger integration
- Demonstrated ability in structuring complex problems into discrete components and communicate these to the team
- Demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced environment and willingness to deal with ambiguity and change
- Project management experience in planning, overseeing and leading large-scale projects to completion
- Ability to travel based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
