Job Description

The Position

The Maintenance Coordinator Electrical is responsible for supporting maintenance and production planning processes by providing electrical input that ensures activities are scoped, designed, scheduled, and resourced to optimize plant safety, integrity and output. The role is also responsible for ensuring the integrity of the process is maintained and contributes to continuous improvement by optimizing the preventative maintenance/planned maintenance program and budget, critical equipment uptime and operational efficiency objectives. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Communication and coordination of unplanned “urgent” maintenance to ensure appropriate personnel are informed, providing progress updates while maintaining a focus on safety and equipment availability.
  • Provide input to the maintenance weekly planning and scheduling process and ensure all maintenance work is designed to standard and delivered to the Electrical Team Leaders to execute effectively.
  • Support coordination of contractor work groups to support the effective and safe execution of planned and breakdown “urgent” scope of works.
  • Acts as the interface between planned and break down maintenance crews.
  • Actively drive the implementation and application of site maintenance processes, practices, and systems with an emphasis on eliminating repeated and/or duplicated tasks.
  • Supplement the company’s innovation process in consideration and implementation of best-in-class electrical systems and products.
  • Support in the management of electrical contracts and agreements including achieving KPI’s in terms of quality, delivery of time frames and within financial targets.
  • Support in the creation and maintenance of written electrical procedures in accordance with site Document Control System.
  • Contribute to the overall asset strategy of equipment and support the development of maintenance plans to deploy against agreed asset strategy.
  • Build strong relationships with the internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of quality maintenance execution plans on time and on budget.
  • Provide input into the maintenance budget by reviewing the existing work plans and stand-alone task lists to support cost reductions and improved work practices.
  • Support compliance with all training, inspection, and reporting under relevant state and legislation for equipment, electrical personnel, and contractors.
  • Outline training requirements for site based electrical personnel ensuring compliance with relevant state legislation for electrical personnel.
  • Maintain register of electrical workers qualifications and licensing.
  • Manage, issue and maintain register of site LV, HV and switch room keys.
  • Measure, monitor, track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to ensure attainment of maintenance objectives. Use KPI’s to set and achieve improvement objectives.
  • Act as the site representative for Albemarle to Work safe in relation to electricity onsite.
  • Coordination of electrical procurement activities and ensuring spare parts and consumables are catalogued and made available.
  • Manage interface with construction / Kemerton expansion project (SIMOPS).
  • Management and administration of in-house electrical installation work license.
  • Provide input and approval of management of change requests related to electrical equipment.
  • Support training development and authorization of electricians in High Voltage (HV) switching operations.

Work Experience / Technical Skill Requirements

  • A demonstrated dedication to Occupational Health and Safety.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar industry, with industrial maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance and production task coordination. 
  • Task planning scheduling and coordination in a complex environment.  
  • Working knowledge and experience of reliability centered maintenance processes. 
  • Working knowledge and experience of modern industrial work practices in a processing environment. 
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders to enact solutions to provide the most favorable outcome for the business.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities associated with industrial equipment including kilns, ball mills, belt filters, plate filters, centrifuges, and boilers.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with internal/external stakeholders to achieve business, safety, and cost efficiency targets.
  • Understanding and experience of change management initiatives and work management processes.
  • Experience with planning and scheduling processes and techniques.
  • Problem solving with solution-focused outcomes.
  • Experience in the application of computerized maintenance management systems and processes (SAP).
  • Demonstrated experience in high voltage switching operations.
  • Experience in contract management.

Education / Qualification Requirements

  • A Grade Electrical License
  • High Voltage Switching Certification with demonstrated experience in operation and maintenance of high voltage apparatus.
  • Supervising Gas Fitter Qualification
  • Certificate IV in Electrical Instrumentation
  • Current WA Driver’s License C Class minimum.
  • Current WA High Risk License.
  • Australian recognized Trade Qualification or Engineering Diploma (desirable).
  • Electrical in-House Nominee or be willing to obtain
