Maintenance Electrician

Turosi Pty Ltd is a privately-owned Company with facilities in Victoria, Queensland and NSW, providing a full range of raw and cooked food solutions across a range of proteins to the retail and food service sectors. 

An exciting career opportunity exists for a dedicated and enthusiastic Maintenance Electrician at our Bannockburn site in Victoria. Our Bannockburn Farming Operation requires a second full-time Maintenance Electrician to join our team.

Work hours will be 7am to 3:30pm (with a 30 min unpaid lunchbreak) Mon-Fri (40hrs), plus being on-call every second weekend. Overtime and call-outs as required.

You and our Senior Electrician will be responsible for the electrical projects and maintenance on 7 farms and a Hatchery in Bannockburn, and 1 farm in Anakie. 

You will be required to work alone, with other trades, contractors and personnel.

You will be expected to provide your own hand tools and multimeter. All other tools will be provided.

You will be expected to drive your own vehicle from the workshop to any of the Bannockburn farms (less than 3km from the workshop), and occasionally out to the Anakie farm (35km from the workshop). Sometimes you will be required to drive the manual work van, but this will predominantly be driven by our Senior Electrician.

Being in the Poultry Industry we must abide by strict bio-security regulations. Therefore, when a breakdown occurs, you will need to plan ahead, take the tools and components required, shower onto the farm, perform the work, shower off the farm, return to the workshop. This may happen several times a day.

Much of the work will be inside active chicken sheds. You will have to carry ladders and tools on uneven ground while navigating through the birds. You will also have to contend with heat, dust and darkness at times.

Day to day, you will plug away at a list of jobs, then attend breakdowns as they occur. We also do upgrade projects during the shutdown periods of each farm.

The chicken sheds have a gas heater, stirring fans, extraction fans, drinker systems, fogger systems, temperature controllers, feed systems, light systems, winches, and egg collection systems. There is a mix of 415VAC, 240VAC, 110VAC, 24VAC/DC, 12VAC/DC.

Required Skills and Experience

•          A Grade VIC Electrical License

•          3+ years’ experience post trade qualification

•          Valid Manual Driver’s License

•          Own vehicle capable of carrying tools

•          Own smart phone capable of running Whatsapp

•          Positive attitude

•          Strong work ethic

•          Self starter

•          Good memory

•          Attention to detail

•          Good use of initiative 

•          Can carry a 10ft a-frame ladder 100m by yourself

Desirable

•          Poultry Industry experience

•          Industrial fault-finding experience 

•          Can read electrical drawings

•          Experience replacing bearings

•          Experience with single phase motors and capacitors

•          Metal fabrication skills

•          EWP ticket

•          Working at heights ticket

•          Confined spaces ticket

•          LV rescue ticket

•          First aid
