The Dooralong Transformation Centre is Australia's largest drug, alcohol and gambling rehabilitation centre providing residential support services in an abstinence based, drug-free environment.
About the roleWe are seeking a values-driven and proactive Maintenance Worker to maintain the grounds, gardens and surrounds of Dooralong Transformation Centre.
Reporting to the Site Manager, this is a permanent, part-time(30.6 hours per week) position based in Dooralong,NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 3.
You will successfully- Maintain gardens, lawns, watering systems, paths and driveways of Dooralong Transformation Centre in line with Centre requirements and Salvation Army policy and procedures.
- Support gardening training programs and assist in ensuring the program continues to be relevant to the needs of the participants.
- Oversee clients assigned to garden and on-site maintenance duties making sure Work Health & Safety practices are adhered to.
- Maintain gardening equipment and assist with general property maintenance and cleaning of equipment as required.
- Ensure all vehicles on site are maintained in working order in line with Fleet management.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role or relevance experience to the site.
- A First Aid certificate.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge across all key areas of competence in general maintenance.
- Sound knowledge in the use of Gardening equipment and maintenance.
- Time management skills with regard to planning ahead for equipment requirements and work arrangements.
- The ability to plan and prioritise work effectively to achieve projected goals.
- The ability to show initiative and recognise tasks which need to be carried out without prompting.
- The ability to create a positive impression of the organisation, exercising tact, tolerance and humor in team interactions to promote harmony.
- Sensitivity to the needs of residents.
- Physical fitness and energy required to respond to overall work demands.
- An understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing substance use disorders, mental ill health and the LGBTQI community.
