About the Role
In this role, you'll lead our operations with strategic finesse, shaping the direction of our department through a service-centric, data driven, business-minded approach. Your knack for developing strategy documents, plans, and policies will drive us forward, ensuring we stay ahead of the curve. This is an all encompassing role with the following services:
- Engineering Design and Survey Services
- Asset Infrastructure strategy, Investigation & Planning
- Development & Subdivision Engineering standards and specifications
- Traffic & Transport Management and road safety
- Drainage and Flood infrastructure strategy, investigation & planning
- Cost Planning, Budget Estimates and Unit Rates
- Long-term Financial Planning for Council Assets
- Asset Life-cycle Replacement and Selection Strategy
- Delivery Program Planning & Prioritisation
- Asset Management Process & Systems
- Plant Workshop & Mechanical Services
In this role, you lead the facilitation and seamless coordination of the department, driving exceptional services not only for the department but for all stakeholders. With your expertise in management practices, you will ensure resources are optimised to ensure maximised efficiency of the department.
Managing our mechanical plant, vehicle fleets, and equipment will also be in this portfolio. Leading a team of subject matter experts to undertake maintenance, repair, and replacement will keep our assets in prime condition.
But that's not all-you'll also oversee our Asset Management systems, ensuring adequate data collection and reporting. Your strategic mindset will drive the whole-of-life management of maintenance for our diverse assets, from roads to bridges to stormwater infrastructure. Your ability to prepare briefs, administer contracts, and review designs will ensure projects progress seamlessly from concept to completion. You'll play a pivotal role in preparing delivery programs and maintenance works, keeping us on track financially while delivering top-tier service. And lastly, your commitment to continuous improvement will see you identify and implement efficiencies to keep us at the forefront of excellence.
This is a permanent full-time role with a competitive salary package on offer (including a leaseback vehicle), which will be negotiated at time of offer with the successful candidate. Managers are entitled to take special paid leave during the period of Council's annual shutdown over the Christmas period (typically 3-4 days), and an additional five days special paid leave each year for professional development. About You
Our ideal candidate is degree qualified in Engineering or a related field paired with extensive contemporary industry engineering design, delivery and maintenance experience. With highly developed communication skills, you will be able to communicate complex concepts and have the capacity to influence outcomes with stakeholders at all levels. As a leader, you will form part of Council's Corporate Leadership Group and champion continuous improvement, engagement and a positive culture throughout the organisation.
