The Role – Philanthropy Manager, Major Gifts We are looking for an experienced Major Gifts fundraiser with experience working for a health-related cause to join their collaborative, supportive team.
Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, and passionate about the impact of your work, this role would suit someone at the mid-level of their career. If you already have experience working directly with donors, from identification through to gift but are seeking more autonomy to build and nurture your own portfolio, then this could be perfect for you.
Working closely with the Philanthropy team of four, and the broader fundraising team, you will work collaboratively to motivate andengage existing giving circles and useyour creative approach to identify and build new prospect opportunities together. You will contribute to building a culture of philanthropy in this dynamic and growing charity.
This role will focus on individual Mid through to Major Donor relationship development. Trusts & Foundations and Bequests are managed by other team members.
Responsibilities
- Research, prospecting and cultivation of high-value supporters for your major donor pipeline
- Identify and qualify existing donors who have the capacity and alignment to increase their gifts
- Strategic and personal stewardship of your portfolio utilising and evolving an established supporter journey
- Support the Head of Philanthropy with the engagement of high-value giving circles
- Create funding proposals , donors reports and tailored communication updates
- Liaise with senior leaders and internal stakeholders to organise donor meetings, events, research updates and information to strengthen donor engagement
- Collaborate with the Philanthropy Team to deliver on targets, reports and short and long-term strategic objectives
- An ambitious and self-motivated relationship fundraiser with demonstrated experience in a similar role in a health-related organisation (Health research, highly regarded)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate confidently via phone, email and face-to-face.
- Confidence to negotiate and influence, knowing when to make the ask (with the support of the executive team if required)
- Ability to develop professional, inspiring written communications, with support to summarise complex research projects and medical terminology for donors
- Self Driven and Collaborative , ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a flexible and positive approach
- Tech-savvy with an appreciation for best practice CRM usage and moves management
