Major Gifts, Senior Coordinator
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic fundraiser who wants to progress their career in Philanthropy to work for Australia's Most Reputable Charity. About the Organisation - Royal Flying Doctor Service-South East Section
The Royal Flying Doctor Service-South East Section (RFDS SE) provides lifesaving aeromedical and primary healthcare services to rural, regional, and remote communities. The RFDS was recently recognised as Australia's Most Reputable Charity in the Australian Charity Reputation Index, for the 11th time in 12 years.
This is an exciting time to join as the Philanthropy team has been incredibly successful at growing fantastic relationships with an engaged portfolio of high-net-worth donors, and they are in the first year of an exciting new 5-year strategy.
About the role - Major Gifts, Senior Coordinator
This is an amazing opportunity to support an established Major Gifts program that has grown rapidly and experienced significant success within the past 5 years.
The Major Gifts, Senior Coordinator will join a team of 3 others, playing a vital role in nurturing and developing relationships with an engaged portfolio of major donors and trusts and foundations. You will have the opportunity to manage your donor development process and prospect to build new relationships.
This is a donor-facing role, you will focus on nurturing relationships with existing donors, implementing personal stewardship techniques to retain and upgrade donors, identifying and developing new relationships and creating and executing highly curated, intimate major donor cultivation events.
You will be responsible for developing, writing, tracking, reporting and acquitting proposals for funding, and to secure and grow income from philanthropic trusts, foundations and other grant-making entities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, nurture and manage flourishing relationships across a portfolio of major donors and trusts and foundations
  • Develop and nurture major donor journey and framework to energise existing major donors and attract prospects
  • Develop compelling applications for funding from trusts and foundations and grants
  • Proactively undertake research, identify, and cultivate relationships with known and potential high-net-worth supporters
  • Grow and develop long term and long-lasting relationships with donors, increasing their level of giving
  • Manage gift solicitation conversations and collaborate with internal teams to facilitate meetings with major donors
  • Coordinate phone calls, letters, in-person events and tours
  • Work with the internal and external stakeholders to collaborate with donor engagement across all programs
Skills and Experience
  • Experience in fundraising (mid value, philanthropy, broad relationship fundraising), with success in building a pipeline of donors or partnerships, and identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence and to engage with supporters in person, over the phone and with highly developed written communications
  • Extremely organised with the ability to multitask, and prioritise
  • Pro-active and highly motivated self-starter, able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • The ability to travel (on occasion) to remote regional locations where programs are delivered to meet with your donors
