About the role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for undertaking various accounting and reporting activities which ensures the effective operation of their BU or Project. As such the MA/PA role is crucial in supporting operations to deliver accurate and timely financial information and analysis.
This is a new role to support the growth in the Iron Ore segment of the business.
Key responsibilities
General Ledger and sub-ledger maintenance for allocated business unit(s)
Ensure Fixed Asset register is maintained including timely capitalisations and disposals, and appropriate depreciation methods are applied
Working with Operations to deliver monthly reports (Management and Capex reports) and financial information that are accurate, timely and provide insightful analysis
Assists with budget/forecast process, providing accurate inputs and analysing results
Preparation of audit work papers and liaising with auditors to address their queries during half and full year, in addition to other ad hoc audits (e.g. DMIRS)
Balance Sheet reconciliations preparation and providing support for movements and closing balances
Managing deliverables by prioritising the requirements of SMA/FC, Site, Corp Finance and auditors
Actively works to close month end earlier – focuses on materiality and analysis, identifying and assisting in implementing improvements
Continuously monitors actions and transactions to ensure controls are followed and that compliance with standards is maintained
What you’ll bring to the team
Tertiary Degree in Accounting
Completed or working towards CA/CPA
2+ years of experience in a range of accounting activities – including general accounting, financial analysis, audit and management reporting
Good technical accounting knowledge and ability to practically apply to MRL
