Achieve Group Australia are seeking an experienced Management Accountant for a 6-month fixed term, full-time position at the Port of Townsville.
About the Role
Assist in the development, preparation and analysis of management reports and financial reports, as well as the preparation of the Port of Townsville Limited's ('the Port') budget and long-term financial plans. The position is also required to assist managers and other employees through the budgeting and forecasting process, reviews and general enquiries.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Collaborate and consult closely with key stakeholders to deliver meaningful 5 year Opex budgets in the Financial Management System (FMS).
- Collate & facilitate monthly Opex forecasts in consultation with key stakeholders.
- Provide guidance to employees across the Port, at all levels with financial enquiries. Provide financial compliance advice and support to all areas of the Port to assist executive, managers and employees in relation to correct accounting procedures and reports.
- Develop FMS reports for management and employees.
- Cooperate with and provide information to both internal and external auditors pertaining to audits of accounting procedures, FMS workflow and security.
- Assist Manager to ensure effective and efficient function of the Financial Services unit.
- Review of Charges and Billing Invoices.
- Administer the Financial Management System (FMS) and oversee all new developments in liaison with the Enterprise Network Analyst.
- Assist employees across the Port with the FMS, issues that arise from the FMS and training needs.
- Work collaboratively in developing accounting methods to improve existing procedures or the communication of information.
- Any other duties as directed by the Manager Financial Services.
- Participate in port emergency responses and associated training as directed to assist with successful restoration of the Port back to an operating capacity in the event of an emergency
- Contribute to the Port's strategic plans including the Statement of Corporate Intent, Corporate Plan and Port Vision 2050
- Ensure appropriate health and safety, environmental management, quality and information security
- practices are implemented for all works to comply with the Port's policies and relevant legislation
- Comply with all relevant legislation, codes of practice and standards
- Promote a Zero Harm culture and continual improvement in our Health and Safety management and performance.
- Any other duties commensurate with level and accountabilities, or as directed by leadership.
Qualifications/tickets/licences
- Degree qualification in accounting, commerce, or equivalent discipline
- Current Queensland C class Driver's Licence
- National police check
- Considerable experience in a similar role, ideally gained in heavy industry
- Excellent knowledge and experience in the preparation of budgets and management reports and associated variance analysis
- Current knowledge of the relevant accounting standards and legislation that pertains to the position
- Understanding of accounting and audit requirements pertaining to Financial Management System (FMS) design, workflows, and security
- Exceptional investigative and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex financial information
- Excellent attention to detail, coupled with good organisational skills to meet tight deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Outstanding customer focus and commitment to the provision of quality services
- An ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with commercially sensitive matters.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Excel.
- Demonstrated experience in computer based applications, including accounting software, databases and integrated financial management systems.
