The Australian Medical Council (AMC) is seeking a motivated, experienced Management/Financial Accountant to join our high-performing Finance team. This exciting, 13 month fixed-term contract (maternity leave cover) is based here in Canberra and offers a flexible, hybrid work arrangement.

About the opportunity
This rewarding opportunity will see you:
Produce the overall financial reporting of the AMC, including the ongoing development and maintenance of costing, budgeting and reporting systems and processes, and the analysis and communication of financial results and performance.
Have expert financial accounting knowledge and interpret, work within and extend established guidelines and policies.
Support the Finance Manager to ensure the integrity of financial systems and information.
Provide the monthly management accounts and contribute to budgets and forecasts to aid business planning.
Assist with cost analysis and cost-reduction projects, variance analysis, strategic and long term planning.

About you
You possess minimum five years experience as a Management Accountant (management accounting and financial reporting), as well as...
Ability to prepare financial statements including Income and Expenditure Statements, and cash flow from source data.
Ability to analyse financial performance for the purposes of variance analysis and reporting to the Executive and Management.
Demonstrated experience in a corporate reporting role.
Attention to detail – an ability to achieve high levels of attention to detail and accuracy.
Be committed to providing a high standard of client service.
Possess sound organisational skills and be able to balance competing work priorities.
Tact and discretion, and the ability to preserve confidentiality.
Good written and verbal communication skills to work closely with business managers, explain new ideas and initiatives, procedures and instructions to staff, discuss specialist matters, and prepare correspondence, reports and agenda items for AMC committees.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Management of relevant accounting databases and IT packages, including high capability of advanced Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to work independently – self-starter.
Additional requirements
Bachelor in Accounting/Finance and CA/CPA membership.
Experience with TechnologyOne (desirable).
Salary and benefits
A salary of $130,000 - $150,000 per annum, including 11% super (plus leave loading) is available, depending on skills and experience.
