About the Role:

Critical to its success is the Environment, Heritageand Sustainability Division, which drives key policy and action,protecting built and natural heritage, whilst supporting climatechange adaptation and mitigation. The Climate Change, Flood Riskand Coast business units within the division aim to deliver aresilient Adelaide and South Australia for future generations.
As Manager, Coast you will lead andmanage a team of technical and administrative specialists tosupport the Coastal Protection Board (CPB) and implementthe Coast Protection Act 1972. Working inconjunction with the Climate Change unit and the Flood Risk unit,the Coast team undertake a policy and management function.Supporting the CPB on a diverse range of issues and projectsincluding development assessments and major sand replenishmentprojects, the team works to ensure a safe and sustainable approachto beach management and coastal environment.
A leader of both technical andnon-technical people, you will empower and motivate your team andshowcase experience of leading through change and reform. You willrepresent the Coast business unit and DEW to the CPB, internal andexternal stakeholders, the Minister, media, the community at largeand all landscape management partners, maintaining the integrity ofthe unit and DEW in your dealings. Prior experience in theprovision of advice concerning the development and implementationof high-profile projects for strategic, planning, legislative andbusiness reform purposes is essential for success in the role.Tertiary qualifications in environment, biological science ornatural resource management are desirable, complimented by in-depthknowledge of the protection and conservation of coastalenvironments.

Special Conditions:
- May be required to participate in fire management and associated duties.
- Inter and intra-state travel including overnight absences may be required.
- Current Class C Drivers licence and willingness to drive is desirable
- Some weekend and out of hours work may be required.
- This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework.
