Job description

Our State Government client is currently looking for a suitable candidate for a newly created role – Manager Community Liaison and Education. This will be a temporary role with an immediate start until 31 July 2024, with possibility of extension.  

The starting rate is $70.71 per hour, plus superannuation; negotiable based on skills and experience.  

The right candidate for this role will have experience in communications, in particular experience and skills in digital media, developing and preparing corporate communications and publications, graphic design, and website content and publication experience. 

As this is a new role, we are looking for an individual with experience in te above areas, a go-getter who will be able to hit the ground running.  

About the Role  

The Manager Community Liaison and Education is responsible for developing and implementing community engagement and outreach programs to enhance public/consumer awareness and understanding of cemetery services within the metropolitan area. 

The Manager Community Liaison and Education will lead a small team to engage with the community through programs and information sharing to better understand the needs of the customer to enable the oranisation to deliver services now and in the future.  

What the position involves  

Sales and Stakeholder Management 

  • Develop and implement community engagement and outreach programs to enhance public/consumer awareness and understanding of cemetery services within the metropolitan area.  

  • Foster positive relationships with local communities, religious organizations, and civic groups through active participation in community events and initiatives.  

  • Lead initiatives to address community concerns and provides informative presentations on cemetery services and related topics.  

  • Manage social media platforms to create engaging content, share educational material, and respond to inquiries, maintaining a positive online presence for the organization.  

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop educational materials and workshops for schools, community groups, and the general public to promote a better understanding of the cemetery industry.  

  • Act as a liaison between the organisation and industry stakeholders, participating in relevant forums, conferences, and partnerships to stay informed about industry developments.  

  • Coordinate and execute events, such as open houses and workshops, to facilitate direct interaction between the community and the organisation.  

  • Collaborate with operational, sales, marketing teams to align community outreach efforts with broader organizational messaging and branding strategies.  

  • Monitor and analyse community feedback and sentiment to provide insights for continuous improvement in community relations and Education initiatives 

  • Stay ahead of industry trends, best practices, and regulations to ensure the organisation remains a leader in community engagement and Education

Selection Criteria  

  • Proven experience in community outreach, education, or related roles.  

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences in compassionate and respectful manner.  

  • Proficiency in social media management and community engagement strategies. 

  • Experience in coordinating events and workshops, demonstrating organizational and project management skills.  

  • Knowledge of industry trends and a willingness to engage with industry stakeholders.  

  • Demonstrates the expected behaviours of the context for this role.
