A bit about the role

Lead a multi-disciplinary team that works in partnership with residents and other local stakeholders to drive strategic and purposeful policy and programming that empowers and strengthens the capacity of residents to participate in and contribute to their local community.

Work alongside a diverse internal and external stakeholder network to advance equity, inclusion, wellbeing and safety in Wyndham and contribute towards the delivery of the City Plan and Our Wyndham, Towards 2040.

Within your department you will lead Council’s Community Strengthening, Social Policy, First Nations and Social and Economic Inclusion units, to deliver exceptional outcomes for our community and foster the growth and development of staff. 

What you will deliver

  • Lead and develop the Community Strengthening & Inclusion department in reforming its services, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and delivering maximum impact within available resources.
  • Provide strategic leadership to your team to deliver shared community outcomes and provide maximum value to residents
  • Drive the implementation of our Reconciliation Action Plan through collaboration across the organisation
  • Review operational and delivery models across your department to optimise effectiveness and the successful achievement of our organisational mission
  • Bring insight and supportive actions to the City Life senior leadership group to identify opportunities to further enhance the achievement of the directorate’s goals

What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Policy, Education, Health, Management or related discipline; post graduate qualifications in Social Science, Community Development, Business or Management is highly desirable
  • Substantial experience in leadership roles, managing large and complex teams
  • High level research and analytical skills, being able to translate evidence-based research into practical operational models
  • Keen awareness of the emerging pressures facing the Wyndham community, understanding social issues and opportunities to support the wellbeing of the community
  • Working knowledge of service delivery models, with experience leading organisational change and service planning
