About the role
The Conference and Events unit of the Professional Development team is responsible for the development and execution of national and international conferences and major events for Engineers Australia. This role is responsible for ensuring the conference and events program provides quality & meaningful experiences for participants, sponsors and exhibitors. The operational capability and performance of the team includes collaborating with key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes which is critical to the success of the program.
This is a fixed term positions for 12 months.
Location: This role can be in any of our offices in Australia! However Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne are preferred.
In this role you will:
- Ensure all team members have received appropriate training to be successful in their job.
- Provide positive and professional leadership and support for the team and those extended team members & stakeholders that are involved with the planning and delivery of conferences and major events.
- Work with team members to build and maintain strong relationships within the Member and Customer team, more broadly across EA, developing positive partnerships, including EEA, Marketing, Communications, Divisions, Digital & Technology, Facilities, Business Growth, Policy & Advocacy, Member Services, Finance and Office Bearers, volunteers, and members.
- Work with the Program Development team to maintain a current & relevant national CPD calendar
- Lead best practice service delivery standards, policies, processes and procedures, in collaboration with conference & Events team members, colleagues, office bearers and volunteers.
- Work with the various stakeholders to implement and maintain the above standards.
- As required utilise the office bearer and volunteer network to support the planning and delivery of conferences and events.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager and PD Operations Manager to ensure the appropriate technology platforms remain relevant for best practice and data is well maintained.
- Provide accurate financial reporting, including risk assessments.
- Lead contract negotiations, funding and bid agreements.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- You have a background in leading people and/or projects with responsibility for service delivery.
- You are comfortable with : Managing multiple projects at once , Building strong relationships across a broad range of stakeholders , Developing networks in, and establishing credibility with, internal and external stakeholders , Managing and leading a team of direct reports
- You have experience in leading Conference event delivery and event operations
- You have experience in leading people, actively training, mentoring and enhancing capabilities within the team
- You have experience in working with and leading volunteers and various stakeholders
- You have experience in event financial management and reporting
- You will do well in this role if you are strongly outcomes focused and highly motivated, innovative and achievement oriented.
