The newly established Business Intelligence, Planning and Improvement department aims to improve delivery, coordination and alignment of services across the organisation. We provide a ‘one stop shop’ for enterprise-wide analysis, reporting, improvement and decision support, as well as program planning, delivery, change and Governance through a collaborative and localised partnership model. 

You’ll be part of a highly skilled, committed and collaborative management team that together provide crucial and highly valued services to the rest of the organisation.  

This role is responsible for the leadership and management of a team of highly technical data engineers.

What you’ll do:  

• Accountable for managing the architecture, development and maintenance of the organisation’s data platform, data warehouse and batch and streaming data pipelines, which are used in the creation and delivery of data analytics products and services.
• Work closely and collaboratively with the other managers in the department to establish, improve and implement processes, tools and frameworks for successful delivery and management. 
• Lead the development and implementation of an organisation-wide Data Governance Framework and Strategy – defining processes, roles, policies, and standards for the creation, use and protection of the organisation’s data resources.
• Contribute to enterprise-wide data architecture design and build.
• Work closely with Digital Services and Information Technology and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage vendors and delivery of services supplied.
• Raising the organisational capability to successfully leverage data as an asset, to maximise the impact of analytics products and services.
• Managing day-to-day operations of a highly technical team of data engineers, including task allocation, scheduling, and decision making.
• Manage to an agreed budget, timeframes and scope.
• Ensure function performance, relevant KPIs and/or business metrics are managed and reported on
• Promote a harmonious workplace to foster an emotionally safe, positive and productive workplace culture.

What you’ll need: 

• Significant experience in Data Engineering and data governance, preferably in a large and complex organisation with multiple stakeholders.
• Significant experience and demonstrated success in delivering major Data Engineering projects to tackle complex issues across a multi-discipline organisation.
• Proven track record in leading high performing teams.
• Experience in data migration and cloud technologies.
• Experience contributing to enterprise data strategy and high-level capability planning.
• Tertiary qualification within a relevant field, with a proven track record of continuous professional development.
