Government Relations and Strategic Policy (GRaSP) is responsible for managing and progressing the Department’s Strategic Policy and Government Relations agenda by providing high level strategic support to the portfolio Ministers, Secretary, Health Executive members, and Departmental business units. GRaSP leads the analysis of the impact on the Department of Health (DoH) of Commonwealth and State policy initiatives.
The Manager - GRaSP will:
- Support the General Manager - Government Relations, Policy and Projects in the provision of strategic leadership and direction for planning, development, management and delivery of key strategic programs, initiatives and Strategic Policy initiatives.
- Lead the management of DoH responsibilities associated with supporting the portfolio Ministers, Secretary and relevant Health Executive members regarding the provision of strategic advice, including for Ministerial and Advisory Councils and Committees.
- Provide direction and support to the GRaSP Team regarding the development of high level Strategic Policy advice to support the portfolio Ministers, Secretary and DoH and Agency senior staff.
The Role:
- Lead and manage strategic planning, complex projects and change processes, including the development, implementation and review of frameworks, policies, systems and processes that support the delivery of strategic corporate strategies.
- Work with the General Manager - Government Relations, Policy and Projects to provide high level strategic advice on Government Relations and Strategic Policy issues to the portfolio Ministers, Secretary, DoH and senior staff and external stakeholders as required.
- Manage inter and intra governmental negotiations and consultation in relation to DoH and Whole of Government initiatives.
- Ensure consistent advice in line with Tasmania’s and/or the DoH position and/or agreements signed by the Tasmanian Government, portfolio Ministers and/or Secretary.

Details of Appointment
Fixed term full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of two years.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $135,408 - $144,527 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
Eligibility:

- Appropriate professional and/or tertiary qualifications, for example in law or public policy
- Extensive experience and/or qualifications in intergovernmental Relations and negotiations, and the operations of government
