About the Role
The Manager, Government Relations manages key relationships within Create NSW and other areas of government to coordinate cabinet and parliamentary processes and prepare strategic and evidence-based advice and recommendations to support decisions relating to arts, cultural and creative industries policy, planning and investment. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Strategy and Projects, the Manager, Government Relations is responsible for delivering high-quality Cabinet, Ministerial and Parliamentary operations, including policy and project work and liaising within and across the Department, cluster, Ministerial offices and the government sector to ensure effective coordination of high-quality advice and services.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Analysis and interpretation of complex information including policy and finance related material and clear communication of findings and outcomes suitable to senior executives.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships and communications with diverse stakeholders to source accurate information, negotiate priorities and deliver responsive, high-quality and appropriate advice to senior executives and Ministers.
  • Contributing to a culture of collaboration and accountability that encourages proactive information flow and knowledge sharing.
  • Managing the preparation of cabinet, ministerial or parliamentary material, including executive and ministerial briefings and cabinet related material and responses to submissions.
  • Managing, influencing and reporting on recommendations from major inquiries and reforms relevant to the arts, culture, and creative industries.
  • Coordinating internal document workflows, deadlines and approvals; and regular review of systems, guidelines and processes to drive continuous improvement.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate with influence, and strong experience delivering a wide range of high-quality cabinet, ministerial or parliamentary advice, services and projects. You are skilled at undertaking research and analysis and preparing briefs and reports.
  • An understanding of ministerial, parliamentary and cabinet processes, the Westminster system, the NSW legislative framework and the delivery of services and associated systems and processes.
  • Strong negotiation and organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment with tight deadlines.
