(1st LOD Operational Risk)
International Operational Excellence (“IOE”) organization is responsible for supporting our international Issuing and our international Acquiring businesses across 27+ markets in ensuring a robust first line of defense, and in playing an active role in supporting the Business meet its growth objectives whilst demonstrating an effective control framework.
Our organization helps our international businesses manage risk, respond to new regulation, and develop new products whilst creating and nurturing effective partnerships across multiple key stakeholders across the organization. The organization also leads an enterprise-wide International Financial Crimes Transformation program and an international first line privacy function designed to strengthen our enterprise-wide controls around privacy and information protection.
Job Responsibilities
This role will report to the VP, International Operational Excellence. The main responsibility of this position is to support the overall implementation and execution of business compliance, risk control and governance activities/programs for Acquiring (Global Merchant Services) business for Asia Pacific (APAC) region.
This position will be a trusted advisor supporting the business on managing risk; ensuring strong control focus is integrated into day to day operations; local legal entities operational risk processes are appropriately managed; ensuring issues and risks are managed fast and effectively with root causes identified and addressed; and in supporting business initiatives to enable strong business growth in the market. Coverage of the roles and responsibilities include the following:
Support in Process Risk Self-Assessment (PRSA) and Business Self Testing (BST) to ensure these are carried out in a timely manner with appropriate alignments. Effectively engage business subject matter experts (SME) and leverage CoE team for relevant expertise and program management to ensure streamlined efforts and efficiencies.
Support the Issues Management process by ensuring appropriate action plans are in place, progress is made against milestones, and controls are enhanced to prevent issue reoccurrence
Support risk assessments for new products and capabilities, work with business to ensure risk mitigation and controls in place for anticipated risks and monitor through post implementation
Support robust AXP Audit program management, driving strong business engagement, and prompt accurate responses to validate findings, ensuring any Management Action Plans (MAPs) have achievable and sustainable action plans
Facilitate implementation of Regulatory Change Management applicable to the market through partnership with Compliance, General Counsel’s Organization, and business
Review marketing campaign to ensure offers in line with AXP policies and controls in place for anticipated risks
Support the education and awareness of employees regarding operational risk management and internal control matters
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the business teams and critical stakeholders in the market and across the organization
Guide and support business in identifying process deficiencies, control weaknesses and recommend sustainable, proportionate risk mitigation strategies
Qualifications
At least 7 years of experience in Operational Excellence/Risk, Compliance, or a related control discipline preferred, ideally in more than one of these disciplines.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including collaborating and influencing abilities with proven ability to operate successfully across matrix organization and without direct authority
Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated experience effectively across all levels
Experience in business process improvement, control design and development of control and process testing
Ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and partner with stakeholders to deliver on shared objectives
Strong project and process management skills; Proven ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously as well as frequent ad-hoc requests
An open and growth mindset with nimble learning agility to identify and drive new thinking
In-depth knowledge of acquiring business and processes preferred
