Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Additionally we have operations across Asia, North and South American continents and Europe meaning there is a career beyond this role is you desire it. Mount Isa is home to a number of our assets in Australia and this role is accordingly based residentially in Mount Isa.
Mount Isa is recognised as an iconic mining town in Australia. With a local community of around 19,000 residents there are multiple choices of schools, supermarkets, and activities. From arts and culture to a thriving sporting community and more, it is the central hub for the surrounding area housing key government services for the region and hosting events such as the largest rodeo in the southern hemisphere.
About your potential new position:
Reporting to the General Manager HSEC, you will lead a team across the full range of HSEC services to support our operational teams with sound, proactive and timely technical support and advice. Your team is comprised of skilled multi-disciplinary professionals, including embedded site business partners focussed on delivering the crucial services across Health, Safety, Environment and Community in a proactive and progressive way.
To deliver on that purpose some of your responsibilities will be:
Providing strategic direction and advice on all facets of HSEC.
Ensuring engagement, processes and systems are robust to meet social expectations, government regulations and company expectations supporting our social license to operate.
Engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Supporting, developing, coaching and retaining your team through capable selection, guidance and development.
Managing contracts that provide key services to the operations.
Managing an annual budget.
What we expect about you:
You are technically knowledgeable across most facets of the role, holding tertiary qualifications in at least one discipline and experience in several others.
This is a leadership and management position requiring advanced interpersonal skills and business management.
Stakeholder management is a strength as you will influence internally and externally across a wide range of issues.
A sound knowledge of resources sector legislation and regulations.
