This is minimum term part-time position to 31 December 2024, three to four days per week, with possibility of extension.

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the General Manager of Operations and Member Services, the Manager of People and Culture will provide strategic support and advice relating to HR, People and Culture, Workforce Planning and Organisational development.

The Manager of People and Culture will lead recruitment activities, and design and implement a performance management framework and plan and deliver learning and development programs to enhance employee skills and professional growth. 

More specifically, you’ll:

  • Lead and support comprehensive recruitment activities, overseeing the end-to-end process to attract, select, and onboard the best talent.
  • Lead learning and development programs. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain people policies, ensuring they are current, compliant, and effectively communicated. 
  • Assist with conducting performance reviews, manage salary review processes, and oversee comprehensive employee development and retention strategies.
  • Develop and lead initiatives to cultivate a positive organisational culture, focusing on values and a supportive work environment. 
  • Lead change management for key policy changes across the organisation.  
  • Manage compliance with all HR and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) legislation.
  • Implement the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy promoting an inclusive and diverse workplace.

Must haves:

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, MBA, MPA or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing HR/ER advice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written abilities
  • Values diversity and actively contributes to a respectful workplace

Bonus points:

If you also happen to have any or all of the following, that would be a bonus!

  • Working knowledge and experience in the Australian mining and automotive industry or Federal or State Government. 
  • Working knowledge of Australia’s Vocational Education and Training system. 
  • Previous experience working in a small, national team

The Mining and Automotive Skills Alliance (AUSMASA) is one of 10 Jobs and Skills Councils (JSC) funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. 

As a JSC, we have four core functions:

  • Workforce planning
  • Training product development
  • Implementation, promotion and monitoring
  • Industry stewardship

We partner with industry, government, RTO's and unions to help meet the mining and automotive sectors' workforce capability requirements. We play a pivotal role in ensuring Australia's VET system is responsive to the changing needs of industry and the Australian economy.
