About the role
As the Manager of Operations Contracts, you play a crucial role in the success of V/Line’s Operations Group. This newly established position entails overseeing strategic contract delivery, risk management, compliance, technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and leadership for two Contract Managers. Additionally, you will manage significant expenditure and collaborate across V/Line to develop and oversee contract management, ensuring risk mitigation, issue resolution, and optimised contract value.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Lead the day-to-day management of contracts, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers, overseeing contract relationships, risk, and compliance.
- Adhere to the Procurement and Contract Management Policy, ensuring correct application across all activities.
- Offer proactive commercial advice to V/Line stakeholders and teams on contract-related matters.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop SLAs an KPIs for suppliers outlined in Contract Management Plans.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team members (direct reports).
- Conduct supplier quality and compliance audits, resolving disputes and managing performance.
- Deliver comprehensive reporting on contract status and KPI achievements.
- Contribute to business planning, budgeting, and quarterly forecasts.
- Maintain a professional approach to all activities.
- Utilise available technology to enhance process efficiency and compliance.
About you
You will bring a proven track record in Contract Management and possess established leadership qualities. Additionally, you will have a pragmatic approach, adeptness in adjusting communication strategies for various groups, and a comprehensive understanding of navigating highly regulated environments with a strong commitment to compliance.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Demonstrated leadership experience, having previously led a small team, and displaying a commitment to fostering team development.
- Knowledge of Operations or related industries, along with experience in navigating Government priorities and compliance requirements.
- Exposure to finance and change management would be advantageous.
- Strong collaboration skills, capable of partnering with various business units to address challenges and develop solutions, while also building relationships with suppliers.
- Adaptability in communication, tailoring messages to different audiences, particularly those without a background in contract management.

Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019. Current employees are expected to remain in their role for a minimum of 12 months before applying to new positions within V/Line.
