Transport for Brisbane division operates and maintains one of the largest public transport fleets in Australia to deliver public transport services for the people living, working, and visiting the City of Brisbane. Through contracts with the State Government and private organisations we provide clean, convenient, and effective transport options on bus, CityCat, ferry, e-bike, e-scooter, and soon - Metro.

Our Branch

Strategy and Network Services branch support the division with advice and support in Health, Safety and Environment compliance and initiatives. We coordinate and deliver divisional specific Learning and Development programs and implement business and process improvement measures.

The branch advises and monitors security, risk, and compliance issues; coordinates information management and record keeping; and coordinates bus network planning and scheduling.

The Role

The Manager Safety, Risk and Security provides leadership across Transport for Brisbane for safety, RISK AND SECURITY outcomes through continuous improvement activities, strategies, and legislative compliance. The role manages the implementation of RISK AND assurance frameworks to deliver the Organisational Policies and Strategies in the context of Transport for Brisbane.

On establishment of robust risk management frameworks you will partner with branches to provide advice and support to understand risks, assurance activities obligations and other frameworks, tools and legislation to support contemporary risk management principles.

The Candidate

The person we are looking for is a values based leader with exceptional experience identifying and managing risks in a large passenger services business. They will have a track record of driving and delivering transformational change through identifying and managing RISK AND the delivery of risk management frameworks. You will be a collaborative leader who works closely with management, stakeholders, and customers to deliver value to our city.

This is a newly created position working with and reporting directly to the General Manager Strategy and Network Services. This is a rare opportunity to join a professional and passionate team and to make a real difference to Transport for Brisbane, Council, and the people of Brisbane.   

To be successful you will have

  • extensive experience and achievements delivering public value, leading organisational change, and performance
  • demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture
  • demonstrated experience developing an engaged, productive, and customer-focused workforce
  • proven ability to deliver systems and processes which deliver value
  • demonstrated ability to undertake broad executive leadership beyond the specific requirements of the position.
