Intro Recruitment Solutions are currently looking for an experienced Senior Safety Manager to join our clients Building, Engineering and Maintenance team to provide support to a major medical facility in Brisbane's inner city.
Purpose of the role:
Lead the development, implementation and review of safety management systems and processes for Building Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) activities, construction and maintenance work, high risk work and
contractor management. This will include effectively and efficiently informing and supporting all levels of staff on meeting Work Health and Safety legislative and system requirements.
- Develop, implement and review of safety management systems and processes for BEMS related activities which
includes and is not limited to: - o Construction and maintenance work; High risk construction work
o Permit to Work process
o Contractor inductions and management
o Risk Assessments, Safe Work Method Statements and Safe Work Procedures
o Induction, Instruction and Training - Implement tactical interventions for legislative compliance, risk profiling, and enhanced management systems at BEMS, while monitoring and responding to state and national legislative changes affecting BEMS activities.
- Collaborate with relevant groups, including the Health and Safety Unit, to ensure consistent health and safety strategies, service delivery, and performance outcomes.
- Ensure the alignment of BEMS health and safety procedures and the safety management system to achieve consistency
- Undertake auditing and inspections of relevant systems ascertaining compliance with legislation and approved policy/guidelines, and establish risk profiles and implement improved health and safety management systems and procedures
- Assess and advise on information system solutions in consultation with BEMS management team and Communications teams.
- Devise responses to audits and inspections conducted in BEMS (both internal and external)
- Deliver training, workshops and presentations to provide all staff with the relevant resources and understanding of
local systems and procedures - Provide leadership and direction to a team, foster and encourage a workplace environment that is outcomes focused and instil a culture of continuous improvement through effective communication, training and flexible workforce management practices
- Develop and review safety policies and procedures work instructions, risk assessments and safe work method statements as required
- Support effective management of change across the business to mitigate safety and business risk
- Engage with site teams, supervisors and business managers to ensure that WHS roles, responsibilities and expectations are understood by all
- Consult and communicate with all levels of teams and stakeholders
- Cert IV in Occupational Health and Safety required
- Other relevant qualification in Health and Safety is desirable
- Experience in the construction and/or maintenance industry
- VPD vaccinations (vaccine preventable diseases) required
